FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week came to a dramatic close with top designers from Gazal Mishra to Ruchika Sachdeva, showcasing their exquisite collections. The big finale starred some of the most esteemed celebrities of the industry from the youthful Ananya Panday to the glamorous Divya Khosla Kumar.

Giving us the most amazing end to the fashion week, the celestial designs were full of an array of crazy silhouettes from comfortable and fashionable loungewear to rich and aesthetic sarees in vibrant hues. While we're still upset that the fashion week is coming to an end, we still can’t wait for everything which the last day has in store for us.

FDCI x Pearl Academy

Pearl Academy, the students from the fashion department showcased their collection ‘Gender Me Good’, which talks about gender fluidity and self-expression. The theme has been inspired by Judith Butler’s essay titled ‘Gender Trouble’ and it attempts to break constructs built by society, taking elements from what is most considered masculine or feminine. With youngsters setting the template for the future, creating styles that reflect societal mores, the fashion week continues to be an incubator of talent providing the youngsters wholesome opportunities to present their work.

Be prepared to be rendered speechless by collections imbued with a unique style and intricate craftsmanship. 6 Degree presents Sanjukta, Varun Chakkilam Label, Shaveta & Anuj, Gazal Mishra, Tatwamm by Abhishek & Vinita taking your breath away with their exquisite collections.

Sanjukta Dutta’s dazzling collection ‘Shukoolaa’ brings to the stage, the beauty of Indian textiles with indo western ensembles ranging from gorgeous saris, swirling lehengas, floor kissing skirts and regal gowns to easy breezy palazzos, kurtas and innovative jackets using experimental prints, silver and gold motifs giving the overall collection a contemporary flavour.

Gazal Mishra’s latest collection ‘Uzbek Vintage’, exhibits her unique ensembles unveiling a colourful and graceful story of the Uzbekistan luxurious foliage. The collection was full of the designers classic silhouettes with clever use of sheer fabrics with intense thread and zardozi embroidery giving the ensembles a feminine appeal. The designs remained partial to a burnt pink palette including stunning shararas, maxi skirts , flowing pants, midi dresses owing to the fashion and trends of the now.

Shaveta and Anuj Choudhary’s gorgeous bridal line titled ‘Qalb’ which means heart is the definition of immense beauty and craft. With some exquisite fabrics and intricate zardozi work their silhouettes ranged from kalidar kurtas, embroidered long skirts and mini kurtas to delicate dupattas and ruffle-edged sarees reflecting hearts of contemporary brides. The shades moved rapidly from red to green to glorious gold and added a touch of sophistication to the stunning bridal wear.

Varun Chakkilam brought a glitzy line of ‘Art Nouveau’ creations at the fashion week aiming at the sensuous, mysterious woman who respects artisanal offerings and appreciates natural beauty. Inspired by the 18thcentury, the designers collection includes intricate hand embroidered bustiers, voluminous skirts, elegant gowns, gorgeous sarees and dupattas in a varied colour palette. Bringing in some eye – catching additions to the ensembles he explores the dazzling blend of epochs and traditions that are timeless and evergreen.

Tatwamm by Abhishek and Vinita created magic with their latest collection, ‘Rajwadi’ that is a fashionable ode to the amazing and exquisite weaves of India bringing the country’s textile wealth to the ramp. With exotic textiles ranging from Kanchipuram to Pochampali blended with intricate bandhani , the duo created a myriad of sarees and cholis in Rajasthani motifs and a vivid colour palette adding to the regal feel of the overall collection.

Pawan Sachdeva

Exhibiting a rich colour palette that runs from greys, powder blues, teals to fawns, reds and oranges, designer Pawan Sachdeva's latest collection, 'Neoteric', is synonymous with the new modern, versatile and comfortable collection. The array of garments range from casual and quilted from long jackets made using PU fabric to leather and suede uppers align seamlessly with pop and chic inners, along with detailed bottoms. The designer beckons versatility in the best way possible and creates a trend setting collection for all the millennials out there.

Taneira

From the start, Taneira’s sarees have equipped culturally-rooted yet progressive Indian women with fashion as a form of self-expression. Through her latest collection, ‘The Fusion Edit’ , she draws a character from the grace of flora and fauna that we find in forests and weaves it into all of its pieces. It’s an ode to circular fashion and is designed with the intent to be used and circulated responsibly before they eventually return safely to the ecosphere.

FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week closes on a high note with Lakme Absolute Grand Finale presents Bodice by Ruchika Sachdeva. Stepping into the label's 10th-year, the designer presents her newest collection, titled 'The Domino Effect', which is an amalgamation of India’s rich architectural heritage as well as budding modernity. Dynamic blocks of lines and clean silhouettes merge to frame the body, and make the wearer its confidante. The designs are detail-centric, minimal in approach, and utilise the most meticulous artisanal techniques. The collection has been designed to be a marriage between our rich heritage, and the contemporary metamorphosis that we’re going through.
