Section: Fashion – Trends

The world is largely turning towards timeless elegance. The changing mindsets of people in the post-pandemic world have made khadi a sought-after choice again. The timeless fabric is perfectly versatile, works for both summer and winter, and can easily be adapted to appeal to a younger, more global audience. And, since everyone is looking for organic and sustainable options right now, it’s a great fit.

Designers across the country are working towards breaking the ‘traditional’ stereotype associated with khadi. Working hard towards making it India’s definition of handmade luxury, they are experimenting with the hand-woven textile to create limitless combinations of colour, weight and character. With many people now seeing khadi as an investment in our rich heritage, every generation is more willing to adopt the fabric and pass it on to the next generation to create an endless legacy of its own.

The country is gradually adapting to responsible buying, and creativity, so heritage weaves are a key aspect. Today, a number of independent clothing labels are embracing the freedom fabric wholeheartedly to bring their designs to life.

We’ve curated a list of the top homegrown sustainable labels that are championing khadi beautifully and helping us make ethical fashion choices along the way!
